Why is this program called LoneStart? |
| |
It originated as a grass-roots initiative in Texas, the Lonestar
state. It can only be done by you, alone.
And it is a start, a first
step to get you started on a path to sustainable health
and wellness.
|
 |
What makes this different from other wellness
programs and initiatives? |
| |
It begins as a 21-day strategy to create and meet realistic expectations
and can be repeated indefinitely until it becomes a lifestyle choice.
It is simple, honest and effective. It is based on established principles
of social psychology and social psychophysiology, and concentrates
on the first steps in what becomes a sustainable effort for each
of us to take back control of our personal health and wellness.
|
 |
Why is this program structured in 21-day
increments? |
| |
Several reasons. There is science behind the idea that behaviors
become “ingrained” when
sustained and reinforced for 21 days. Most people believe that they
can do “just about anything” for only three weeks—and in
just three weeks participants will see significant results
from their efforts during that brief period of time. And 21 days
is just the beginning.

 |
Is this just another diet and exercise program? |
| |
Absolutely not. It goes much further. In fact, this initiative
is a logical response to the discouraging fact that fully two-thirds
of all dieters gain back all of their weight loss within one year.
Existing diet and exercise fads and crazes fail to address the real-world
pressures, limitations and constraints confronting our time-impoverished,
energy-drained, stressed and unmotivated populace. The LoneStart
Wellness Initiative provides the opportunity
for almost immediate modest but meaningful success, which
leads to a sense of achievement and empowerment, and through behavior
change, to continued success. We call it "Achieve and Believe."
|
 |
How does the LoneStart Wellness Initiative
work? |
| |
It provides a realistic plan to accomplish four important and
achievable goals:
Improve the quality of positive nutritional choices.
- Be logical about the quantity of food consumed.
- Increase activity levels.
- Create the environment through knowledge, attitude and the
identification of motivational triggers to inspire participants
to actively pursue and reach realistic wellness and weight loss
goals.
We have become Still and Ill and we need to be On the Move to
Improve. We pick up our behavioral cues from a society that is
overfed, undernourished and sedentary. We need to begin to make
sound individual decisions that will serve our long-term self-interest.
